If you are looking for a therapist who is authentic, relatable, warm and open while you seek support and healing for whatever you are struggling with, I may be a good fit! I believe it is so important that you have a safe place to explore the root causes of your struggle. I believe our relationship is the foundation to creating this space, I want you to feel safe to talk about anything with me and I don't want you to just learn how to manage the symptoms but to actually work on the root causes so that you don't even experience the symptoms any longer.
I have experience working with a variety of struggles and have provided therapy for women for the following struggles: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, religious trauma, life transition, relational difficulties, divorce, poor self-esteem and work struggles to name a few.
One of my specialities is providing eating disorder treatment. I am able to combine my training and experience as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with my training as a psychotherapist to guide each person to the freedom and healing your desire. It has been an honor to help many adolscents and women find healing from an eating disorder. I have been working with clients who struggle with eating disorders since 1997.
For those who are interested in my therapeutic approach, I utilize a cognitive behavioral approach. I believe that we often have false core beliefs about ourselves, others or the world around us that increase our struggle and prevents us from thriving. I also will utilize a person-centered approach as I believe that each person is unique, valued, and worthy of unconditional acceptance. It is important that you know my Christian faith is one of my core values and is integrated into how I view the world and life but will incorporate those spiritual principles only as you are comfortable.
A little about me personally, I currently live in Suffolk, VA and love being outdoors, enjoying a good cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine on the weekends, reading, an occasional Netflix binge, spending time with my friends and family and learning new things. I have a 5 year old husky/german shepherd mix named Ollie and he brings me great joy. I have experienced some very difficult times in my life but have found healing and and hope for my future and want to help others do the same. I look forward to meeting you!
